An art exhibition celebrating the beloved Superb Fairy Wren has been mounted in response to the awful news this beautiful little bird that we take for granted is facing extinction in 30 years due to climate change. Artists, sculptors, photographers, and even jewellery designers have answered the call!
And it's a Mudgee initiative! Hosted by Margot Stephens, and Denise Faulkner.
Margot is one of Australia's leading contemporary figurative sculptors and lives here in Mudgee. She sculpted the beautiful bronze statue of Louisa Lawson that sits proudly outside the Library.
Denise Faulkner is an award-winning Australian watercolour artist who lives on a bush property between Mudgee and Gulgong. Her exquisitely detailed paintings of native birds such as wrens, cockatoos, galas, kookaburras and owls are immediately recognisable and sought after by people across Australia.
